Knud cliff

Historical cliff on Fur

Knudeklinten is a steep cliff of moler (Mo-Clay) on the north-west side of the island of Fur. Moler is a special type of rock, consisting of a few hundred layers of volcanic ash divided by fossil deposits of algae and clay. You can experience the impressive cliff from the top and enjoy the views towards Livø and Mors. On the beach, you can look for fossils of fish, birds, insects, reptiles, and plants.

The island of Fur is characterized by cliffs and hilly landscapes, which offer attractive views over Limfjorden, and the dramatic moler are unique to the island. In the cliff Knudeklinten you can see how moler and ash layers have been pressed into plates and folds, and get an idea of how the sea has persistently affected the delicate material. You can also visit the three viewing platforms of rust-coloured steel, which are located in the previous mole quarry between Knudeklinten and Faskær. Two of the platforms offer clear views of a mole quarry, in which the layers are clearly visible.

Knudeklinten is accessible via a path from Furs Bryghus. A parking area is also located here.
