Guide to Fanø 2024

Fanø is located in the Wadden Sea just off Esbjerg in Jutland. The island is almost 60 km2 and has a population of about 3400 people. The island consists of the two idyllic towns of Nordby and Sønderho as well as the small town of Rindby. In addition, the island is characterized by beautiful nature and coastline as far as the eye can see. You can sail to Fanø directly from Esbjerg and it only takes about 12 minutes.

The island offers several wonderful experiences, taste experiences and accommodation, and here we will give you some ideas so you can easily plan your stay on Fanø.


If you visit Fanø, you have many wonderful experiences ahead. You can go to a museum, go out and see the old bunkers and thereby experience the many relics from World War II, go out and see one of Thomas Damsbo's trolls or just go out in Fanø's beautiful landscape and enjoy nature and the almost endless coastline.
