Askø

Askø is located in Smålandsfarvandet north of Lolland. The island has an area of about 3 km2 and is almost completely flat with the highest point being 3 meters above sea level. About 40 permanent residents live here.

You can hop on the ferry at Bandholm Harbor and the boat trip takes no more than 30 minutes.

The island of Lilleø is located right next to Askø and the two are actually connected by a 750 meter long dam.

The well-known chef, Claus Meyer, has in many ways attracted more attention to the small island, as he produces both brandy, beer and apple juice here. In addition, the famous chef holds an annual festival called the Apple Flower Festival. Here you will find stalls with apples, plums and honey, which are of course produced on the island, while the festival also offers a number of events and experiences for young and old.

On Askø you can visit Askø Church which can be dated back to the 16th century. It is a beautiful, whitewashed church that is definitely worth a visit. The island also has an island museum that can take you back to life on the island in the old days where most people lived off agriculture and fishing, which was a harsh life due to the many storm surges that hit the almost completely flat island.
