Sejerø

Visit the cozy Sejerø

Sejerø is located in Sejerøbugten off North Zealand. The ferry to Sejerø sails from Havnsø and it takes about 1 hour to reach the island. The island has an area of 12.5 km2 and houses 403 inhabitants. There is an unwritten rule that says that you must have lived on the island for at least two years to be able to call yourself a Sejerø resident, so it's not just like being admitted as a real islander. Most of the residents of Sejerø live in Sejerby, which contains the nicest street pond and the fine Sejerby harbor.

On the island you have the opportunity to visit Sejerø Church which can be dated back to the 14th century. Several days of the church have been renovated over time, but the church contains call paintings that can be dated all the way back to 1558.

In addition, you can visit the island's landmark, namely the beautiful lighthouse. It was built back in 1852 and is 19 feet high.

Other attractions and experiences on the island are their culture house, golf course and of course the marina.

The nature on Sejerø has a lot to offer, such as the rare plants, namely swallow root, deer root, acorn price and gray potential. You may also be lucky enough to see and experience many bird species, and this is especially the case as there are no foxes on the island and the birds therefore live in the best condition here. The topped shellfish, the eider and the teal are just some of the bird species you can catch a glimpse of right here. A trip to Sejerø will therefore offer special experiences that are not found everywhere else, and you can also visit the highest point on the island, which is 30 meters above sea level, and which offers a fantastic view of nature and sea.
