Bjergsted Hills
Bjergsted Bakker is one of the few places on Zealand where you can see hills rise up from flat plains. Some of these hills offer views of the cove Saltbæk Vig, the bay Sejerøbugten and Storebælt (the Great Belt).
The highest point of Bjergsted Bakker is 87 metres above sea level and is called Weinreichs høj. From this spot, there are fine views out over the sea. In other parts of the area, the hills are covered by woods, so the hilltops do not appear as notable. In the valley between the hills, from the paths, you can see deer roaming in enclosures. If you’re lucky, you can also get a glimpse of a white-tailed eagle in the area around the lake, Skarresø. Since 2003, a pair of white-tailed eagles has nested at the western end of the lake.
Several paths run through Bjergsted Bakker. It’s a good idea to start your walking trip through the area from the middle of Bjergsted village, where there are parking spaces.
