Ash from Ashøj
Ash from Ashøj is one of recycled artist Thomas Dambo's trolls, which you will find in a green and scenic area in Hurup/Thy. Ash is the biggest of the trolls in Denmark.
The story behind Ash from Ashøj
Ash from Ashøj was born during "The Great Troll Folk Festival", which is the name of the project that arose due to Covid-19. Thomas Dambo should actually have performed 25 trolls around the world, but due to the pandemic, Thomas flew to Denmark, where the troll folk festival was created with the help of a lot of volunteer labor from locals around Denmark.

Relocation in 2022
Ash was erected in 2020, but in 2022 it emerged that the troll was too close to a protected burial mound. After a decision from the Environment and Food Complaints Board, which declared that no buildings - including art - may be erected within a radius of 100 metres, the association Ashøje Plantages Venner therefore had to find resources to have Ash moved 30 metres.
No one had any idea that burial mounds were there, and therefore it also created a great debate that it was necessary to spend resources on the move. However, on 1 November, Ask was moved the 30 metres, so you can still visit him in the plantation.
