Special activities

There are many reasons to come again and again, and there are various activities, special exhibitions and events all year round that can entertain and make both children and adults wise to the world's nature and wildlife.

Christmas in Aalborg Zoo

Play Video

Since 2019, Aalborg Zoo has held Christmas in the Zoo, where the doors are opened for a spectacular decoration of the park. An extremely popular tradition has been created with magical light landscapes and thousands of Christmas lights that guests can follow and admire through their walk around the garden.

Christmas in the Zoo is a completely different way to experience the zoo, where the darkness and the beautiful lights are more in focus than the animals.

In 2020, the zoo with their Santa hit in the snowglobe, a very corona-friendly way to let the kids greet Santa. That initiative went viral on media around the world. In 2021, it was special that you could experience Dino in the Dark - a Christmas edition of the park's dinosaur exhibit.

Christmas in the Zoo is extremely popular for guests from near and far and we can highly recommend a visit when you want in the right Christmas mood.

News 2022: Crawling and Crawling - Do You Dare?

Spider

Visit the exhibition HUGE crawling & crawling. Here you enter an adventurous universe with insects and giant insects. You meet a three-meter-high bird ladder cup, experience a giant vomit fly and come face to face with a two-meter-long mosquito.

With the exhibition, we want to focus on biodiversity, because in Denmark there are more and more areas with low biodiversity, ie areas where only a few different animals and plants can live. The dissemination is at child height, so that both young and old can become wiser about the concept, test their knowledge and get good advice on how we can contribute to preserving or increasing biodiversity in Denmark.

On weekends, you can also meet our cute and clever Zoo guides, who can make you much wiser about all the glorious crib-crib life.

News 2022: Halloween debut

In the autumn, Aalborg Zoo will welcome you to a garden in the spirit of Halloween. This is the first time that Aalborg Zoo is transforming the garden into a spooky, cozy universe.

News 2022: New Orangutan facility

This year's big news at Aalborg Zoo takes place on 11 June, when the new orangutan facility opens. The facility will be home to Denmark's only Borneo orangutans. This is one of the endangered animal species, which Aalborg Zoo partly contributes to protecting in nature and partly is part of international breeding cooperation to help preserve the species in the future.

The outdoor facility will be over ten meters high and will include climbing ropes and hanging nests, large trees and flexible climbing poles. The hanging nests give the orangutans places in the height where they can seek shelter and shade.

Orangutans live most of their lives in the treetops and rarely move on land. In the new facility, we can stimulate this natural behavior and give the orangutans optimal opportunities to unfold as tree-dwelling animals.

Extinction - dare you join?

Again in 2021 you can experience the spectacular dinosaur exhibit, which tells the story of how dinosaurs have evolved over millions of years.

During our own visit, we explored among the roaring, lifelike giants, all of whom were life-size. This really impressed the kids.

Unique experiences up close

Take a walk on the impressive footbridge, which provides a unique view of the lion and tiger facility, and get up close and personal when the majestic predators are fed in their indoor facility. Step into the area of the cute goats, who are always ready to be cuddled, and experience the pink flamingos up close.

The savannah has come to the city of Aalborg, and here you can, among other things, get close to the world's tallest animal - the giraffe.

On the Savannah, a footbridge has been established in 2020, so that the children can reach eye level with the giraffes.

Events and activities for young and old

The garden offers a sea of activities and attractions for the whole family all year round. In the middle of the garden you will find a large playground with, among other things, swings, climbing tower and slides.

On Zoofariscenen, located next to the playground, you can experience trained animals and exciting stories about the animals' strange world. Every day, it is also possible to get very close when the many animals of the garden are fed.

On Aalborg Zoos Facebook you can also see what has happened right now of special events etc.

In line with the dinosaur special exhibition, you can also dig for fossils in the large sandbox, where both bones and eggs from the magnificent dinosaurs are hidden.

  3. Top nice zoo

We have a really nice Zoo here in Aalborg, filled with a lot of different interesting animals & #8211; they can be experienced both inside and outside. A tour of the train garden around is an option & #8230; Performing several times daily on the big stage is quite entertaining for small & large children. Food is very welcome to bring & #8230; alternatively it can be purchased in 4 different locations in the garden. As something new, kids can frolic in the large playground connected to the forest behind the zoo via a long cable car that traverses across the parking lot and up into the wooden crowns. The visit can be rounded off in the large kiosk at the entrance / exit and perhaps the cow can become, for example, a toy animal to enjoy on the return trip.
