Cycle routes in Zealand​​ 2024

Zealand, Denmark's largest island, offers versatile and charming cycling tours. Discover the beautiful coastal areas, where cycle paths lead along the white sandy beaches and the clear sea. Regional route 40: Fjord trail

The fjord trail is a route of almost 240 km around Isefjord and Roskilde Fjord. It is formed by a number of smaller routes, which can easily be one-day trips if you are not ready for the entire route. Go on an adventure in part of Zealand's coastal country, and fill your backpack with memories!

The route is divided into 7 different parts. Each part has its own color on the map, and tell its own stories about the area you pass through.

Fun in the pedals

Get an exciting bike ride on Sydfalster with the whole family!

The experience route "Fun in the pedals" is a small, child-friendly route of only 18 km, which starts at Marielyst Torv. The route is a panoramic route, and can therefore be started at any point on the route.

Panorama Route 418:
From Coast To Coast

The tour starts at Marielyst Torv, where the tour goes towards Væggerløse. Here you can visit Stovby glassworks and Stouby Mill. Afterwards, you have to climb one of Sydfalster's rare hills, with a nice view of Guldborgsund as a reward. The beautiful Hasselø along Guldborg Sound shows the way to Nykøbing Falster, the midway point of the route. Here you can take a break and get some refreshments. 

Panorama Route 419: The Sun Route

The experience route "Sundruten" is a scenic cycle route of just over 46 km that starts in the heart of Nykøbing Falster at Slotsbryggen. You will then be taken on a tour through the city, nature and culture as you head towards Guldborg Sund, and on your way back towards Sundby, after which you will end up back in Nykøbing Falster.

Panorama Route 420:
In the green silence of the forest

This tour takes you through Midtfalster's forests, with the wonderful scent of nature surrounding you. On the way, you will also meet the whir of history when you find burial mounds, ramparts and a courthouse. The route is divided so that you can take a trip of either 30km or 11.5km. The short part of the route is perfect for children!

On top of the world

Denmark's breathtaking nature unfolds around you on this Panorama route. Views of Kling and sea, as well as winding and hilly landscapes are a magnificent experience. The route produces both shortness of breath and sweat on the forehead, but the reward is worth it, in the form of beautiful views around the countryside!

Panorama Route 422:
Exploring with the family

Ice cream on the beach, sensory play, beach meadows and crooked trees. Parts of a wonderful experience on this panoramic route. North-western Møn offers quiet, idyllic country roads, winding streets, galleries and good food. View and insight are key words on this route, which takes you to various vantage points in the beautiful landscape. The tour is also suitable for disabled cyclists!

Panorama Route 423:
The sweet trip

The sweet trip is tailored to you with a sweet tooth who likes to end the trip with an ice cream. The trip goes through quiet country roads, with charming villages that offer both half-timbered houses and hollyhock idyll. You get up close to the country estates' animals, and even have the opportunity to sail on the coastal lagoon.

There are several opportunities to get an ice cream along the way!

Panorama route 424: Adventurous idyll

Beech trees and a sea view are the start of an adventurous journey, because you will follow in the footsteps of HC Andersen and his visit to Præstø. An excursion to romance that sets both thoughts and feelings in motion. It is an adventure in itself, and in the forests you can see the traces of the Gøndehøvdingen, Svend Poulsen Gønge, who defended Zealand against the Swedes in 1657-58.

Panorama Route 425:
Fed, Fjord And Fossils

Fat, fjord and fossils are some of the wonders of nature that you can experience on this 30 km long cycle route!

Take a trip to the bottom of the sea, where you can search for 65 million year-old shark teeth in Faxe Kalkbrud! Here it is filled with azure blue, chalky white limestone, and the remains of a time when the area was covered by water.

Drama On The Cliff

Drama on the cliff leads you out to magnificent views on quiet roads. The limestone is chalky white and the lush soil is black. You will also find Cold War relics and solar-heated stones. Stevn's cliff has also been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Ingemann route in Sorø

Dive into Danish cultural heritage and BS Ingemann, who, among other things, wrote "Dejlig er jorden", "In the east the sun rises", and "Christmas has brought blessed bid", on this 26 km long cycle route through Sorø's breathtaking landscape.
 
Along the way, you will get stories about some of the places that Ingemann came to and that inspired him, such as he house and island, Parnas, Frederikskilde and Præstegården in Lynge.

National cycle route 9: Helsingør - Gedser

National cycle route 9 is a 290 km long cycle route from Copenhagen down to Gedser, most of the way coincides with the Danish part of the Bikeway Berlin-Copenhagen cycle route. If you want to follow this, you can take the ferry from Gedser to Rostock and from there continue south towards the German capital.

Regional route 33: Gillelejestien

Regional route 33, also known as Gillelejestien, is a popular cycle route that stretches through beautiful landscapes and picturesque areas. This cycling route is suitable for both experienced cyclists and those who want a relaxed ride in nature.

Regional route 47: Nordkyststien

On this bike ride, you will experience impressive cliffs and houses that almost hang over the sea. The views will take your breath away, if the bike ride hasn't already. You will also visit lovely seaside towns where summer life flourishes. And as a cultural and historical gem, you get the pleasure of visiting Kronborg, which puts the finishing touches on this cycling experience.

Regional route 48: The castle route

Join us on an unforgettable bike ride and experience the best of North Zealand from a bike saddle. On this route you will have the opportunity to visit three royal castles: Kronborg, Fredensborg and Frederiksborg Castle. In addition to these impressive cultural-historical gems, you will also be spoiled with varied landscapes and plenty of opportunities for stops along the way.

With a bike ride around the island you can experience the best of both worlds. Sejerø Rundt is a 25 km long cycle route that takes you on a journey through time and landscape.

National Cycle Route 7: Sjællands Odde - Rødbyhavn

National route 7 takes you from Zealand's Odde on paved roads through pleasant villages and fields. The route is very child-friendly if you consider Sommerlandet Sjælland, BonBon Land, Knuthenborg Safari Park and water park Lalandia to be good attractions.
