The story of Sneglehuset begins with the fisherman Alfred Chr. Pedersen. He was not only a skilled fisherman, but also a true artist with remarkable patience. Alfred had promised his wife, Poula, that he would build a house so unique that people would travel from far and wide to visit it. And he kept that promise.

Although many locals were initially skeptical of Alfred's project, this skepticism gradually changed to admiration and pride. Work on decorating the Snail House began in 1949 and continued for a full 25 years until it was finally completed in 1974. The result is a house where every square centimeter is decorated with artistically placed snail shells and conch shells.

Experiences

But Sneglehuset offers more than just snail houses. Inside you will find an impressive exhibition of bottle ships, handmade by West Jutland fishermen. These ships are a testament to the craftsmanship that the area's fishermen possess in addition to their fishing skills.

Today, Sneglehuset functions as a museum, where visitors can also enjoy an ice cream in the house's ice cream café, see various exhibitions and shop in the small shop.

But the Snail House is not just an attraction; it is also a place full of romance. Alfred created a special love bench, decorated with a red heart made of seashells. This became a popular place for young couples to sit hand in hand and dream of the future.
