Nymindestrømmen

The long chain of lakes, Nymindestrømmen, stretches from Ringkøbing Fjord to Gammelgab. Take a walk alongside their waters to discover surrounding reed beds and extensive coastal dunes. You can also climb the high-lying dune, Hattebjerg, and enjoy the views of both land and sea.

Various animals and plants thrive in the meadows and marshes around the lakes. You have, for instance, a good chance of spotting an adder on the narrow hugormesti (Adder Path), so keep your eyes open! The route along Nymindestrømmen also passes several fine old buildings, such as the old lifeboat station and the triangular houses at Nymindegab, in which fishermen stored their equipment. In the outermost row of dunes between Nymindestrømmen and the sea, you can also find Second World War bunkers.

You can take a short trip on foot over gravel and dunes to the beach, and it is also possible to experience the Nymindestrømmen lakes north of Nymindegab directly on the water with a canoe trip.
