Funen's Head

Peaceful scenery and spectacular views

Fyns Hoved is a peninsula that’s characterised by its peaceful nature. You can walk down the gravel path to Fyns Hoved. Along the last 2 km to the top of Fyns Hoved, you can enjoy the views of the shallow lagoons that surround the seaweed that binds Fyns Hoved to the rest of Funen.

Fyns Hoved offers contrasting landscapes: Gentle hills, small ponds, flat salt marshes and grassy areas near the wild sea that pounds the cliffs. The area around Fyns Hoved is one of the driest in Denmark, and these particular conditions create a very special light in the landscape. The dry climate also provides ideal conditions for rare plant types, which have difficulties managing in other parts of Denmark. You can, for example, find Danish milk vetch, sea lavender and orchids. You also have the opportunity to experience the wealth of fauna, which includes several rare types of butterflies and beetles. In still weather, you may also be lucky enough to see a porpoise from land.

You can experience Fyns Hoved on foot, by bicycle or on horseback. A gravel track runs up from Fynshovedvej to the parking area on the ridge, Jøvet.
