Blokhus sculpture park

Enter a world of art, nature and sensory experiences in Blokhus sculpture park – a unique oasis of over 20,000 m² filled with fascinating sculptures created by both Danish and international artists.

Here, aesthetics and atmosphere meet in beautiful gardens, reflecting water scenes and green oases, where each sculpture tells its own story.

Whether you come for peace, inspiration or an experience for the whole family, the Blokhus Sculpture Park invites you to contemplation, joy and wonder all year round – from the spring blossoms to the park's magical Christmas lights.

The story behind

Sculpture is being created.

It all started in 2013

The Blokhus Sculpture Park has developed significantly since its beginning in 2013, when John Andersen transformed the former school from 1958 into the setting for the first Sand and Wood Sculpture Festival.

Since then, the park has grown from a local festival to a holistic experience with art, nature and gastronomy at its center. Over the years, blooming sensory gardens, lakes, an orangery, a café, an art shop and new exhibition areas have been added.

The highlights count the world's largest sandcastle in 2021, the magical Christmas tradition Magical Christmas, and a number of artistic exhibitions and collaborations that continue to make the park a vibrant cultural center by the North Sea.

Experiences for the whole family

The sculpture park offers a full day of experiences for both young and old.

The Culture House, where the reception for the sculpture park is also located, houses many activities. Here you will find, among other things, the Culture House café and art shop.

The park also offers extra fun for children and childlike souls, who can try their hand at seesaws, swings, bouncy cushions and a jungle path.

For the creative or energetic, there is also the opportunity to play a game of giant chess, skittles, take a trip on the "the earth is toxic" track, take a trip to the knight's castle, or even make your very own sand sculpture in their giant sandbox.

The Flower Park

The sculpture park is a green oasis filled with colorful flowers, beautiful beds, shrubs and trees.

In 2015, the Sculpture Park underwent a significant upgrade – from being a place for sand sculptures to becoming a holistic experience and art park. The focus was on creating a vibrant, aesthetic and sensory environment where nature and art go hand in hand.

Since then, the park has grown and become even more lush. The trees have grown taller, new flowers and plants have been added, and the many beds change their expression year after year. Today, the 20,000 m² park spreads out like an artistic landscape with sensory gardens, flowering perennials, sculptural works, pergolas and small, atmospheric garden spaces.

Every year, the park's creative gardeners add new colors, shapes and details, making the Blokhus Sculpture Park a living work of art that transforms with the seasons.

Christmas in the Sculpture Park

Every year, Magic Christmas transforms the Blokhus Sculpture Park into a true winter adventure.

Thousands of twinkling light decorations and a magnificent sound and light show create an atmosphere of pure Christmas magic. Guests can explore the impressive nativity scene, singing penguins, Europe's longest illuminated Christmas tunnel, a giant Christmas tree, the romantic kissing pergola, sparkling gold carriages, twinkling Christmas stars - and much more.

The park invites you to...

Orchestra.

During the year there are also many other activities, such as the wood sculpture festival, concerts, lectures, art exhibitions, and much more.

On your birthday you can also get free entry, you just have to remember to bring valid photo identification.

A gastronomic experience at Hawtorn

Food with a view in the Orangery at Hawtorn

In the middle of the Blokhus Sculpture Park you will find the Hawtorn café – an atmospheric eatery where nature, art and gastronomy merge.

Here you can enjoy delicious dishes made from scratch with local ingredients and lots of love for North Jutland cuisine. The café offers both classic lunch favorites, freshly baked bread and tempting cakes – all served in the cozy surroundings of the orangery with a view of the park's green oases and works of art.

Whether you visit the park for the art, to experience Magical Christmas, or simply want a quiet break with good food and coffee, Hawtorn is the perfect place to sit back and enjoy the moment.
