Holstebro Museum is a journey into the history of Central and West Jutland – from ancient moorland to contemporary art and culture. Here you enter a modern and sensual museum experience, where stories of people, faith and change are brought to life.

In the atmospheric exhibitions you will meet Vikings, farmers and citizens, and through sound, light and interactive installations history comes alive for the whole family. Whether you are interested in treasures from ancient times, stories about life on the moors or Holstebro's development as a cultural city, the museum offers new knowledge, immersion and inspiration in every corner.

It is also worth noting that the museum is free for children and young people under 26 years of age.

Holstebro Museum combines vivid stories with strong sensory experiences.

IN The jewel returns home you follow the story of a find that is reunited with its past – a powerful tale of cultural heritage and identity. On The fairytale ceiling The imagination opens up into a sensual universe where children and adults are invited into the magic of the story.

Ironmen takes you close to the people who built the local community with hard work and strong hands. In Through fire and water you experience the forces of nature and man's ability to adapt and survive.

And then there is The rats are loose. – a playful treasure hunt for the whole family, where you go together on the hunt for the naughty rats that have hidden in the corners of the museum.

The Museum Café

Entrance fees

Adults: 110 kr.
Provides access to both Holstebro Museum and Holstebro Art Museum.

Pensioners: DKK 80
Applies to both museums.

Children and young people under 26 years of age: For free

Groups (min. 10 people): 80 DKK per person
For combined payment. Valid for both museums.

Puzzle hunts: 75 DKK per group
Regardless of number of participants. Entrance to the museum is not included.

Note: Special events and children's activities may incur a participation fee.

Unfortunately, it is not permitted to bring and consume your own food and drinks into the museum. However, you are very welcome in the café, where you can buy delicious lunches, cakes and hot or cold drinks. The café is open to everyone – even if you are not visiting the museum.

Yes, there is disabled access to all facilities via the main entrance – including exhibitions, shop, café and lecture hall. The disabled toilet is located at the entrance, and there are two disabled parking spaces directly opposite.

Companions have free access with a valid companion card. Electric scooters may be used at walking pace (max. 6 km/h). Guide dogs are welcome - other pets are not.

The museum offers engaging programs for schools and institutions – both at the museum, in the city and in the classroom. The programs support academic goals and combine history with active learning.
