Go on a troll hunt in Odense. Artist Thomas Dambo has created trolls from recycled wood, which are placed all over Denmark – Troll Hans Hulehånd lives in the middle of Funen's capital Odense. You can find a map of the trolls right here.

At Bridgewalking Lillebælt you can feel the adrenaline and enjoy the spectacular view from the top of the Lillebælt Bridge while moving around at a height of 60 meters. During the summer of 2021, a new Hans Christian Andersen’s house will open, consisting of both architecturally beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces.

Castle visits and nature experience

Tranekær Castle

The castle dates back to the 13th century, but some believe it was actually built earlier than that. It is the house in Denmark that has been inhabited for the longest period of time and therefore has a very special history. The castle is currently inhabited by Countess Mette Ahlefeldt-Laurvig and Count Christian Ahlefeldt-Laurvig, who live here with their six children. The castle was restored in 1948-49 and it is possible to book a wonderful castle stay on site, while there is also the possibility of overnight stays in fine holiday homes not far from the castle. In addition to visiting and seeing the beautiful castle, you can walk a 2 km route through Tranekær Castle Park, which offers exciting international exhibitions and works. The purpose of these works is to unite with nature in a very special way.

Visit Egeskov Castle

Egeskov Castle contains a lot of history that you can explore during the day. When you visit the castle, you are not just entering a museum - the castle still functions as a private residence in the evening, when it is closed to visitors. During your visit to Egeskov Castle, you can try to solve the Museum Mystery treasure hunt via the USSEUM app.

Langeland's largest city

Rudkøbing

Rudkøbing is Langeland's largest town and is definitely worth a visit. You can stroll around the cozy cobblestone streets, take a stroll down to the marina or browse the many specialty shops the town has to offer. The town also offers experiences such as Langelands Museum, Rudkøbing Bymølle and the HC Ørsted Exhibition. The inhabitants of Rudkøbing are very proud of the former resident HC Ørsted. He was the discoverer of electromagnetism back in 1820, and in 1825 he succeeded in developing a method for extracting aluminum. There is therefore a statue of the professor in the town and you can also visit the HC Ørsted Exhibition where you can hear and read about his life and discoveries.

This historic manor house offers various children's activities, including outdoor play in the courtyard, where children can explore nature and participate in hands-on activities.

At Ærø Kayak and SUP, both young and old can participate in courses in the two water activities. You can also come on a guided tour or go on your very own romantic SUP trip with rosé for the adults. Cosiness at Bagenkop harbor

Rasmus Klump's ship

A really nice family attraction can be experienced in Bagenkop on Langeland, namely Rasmus Klump's ship. The ship is put into the water around Easter and is taken up again in October, so if you want to visit the ship, you should do it during the summer period. It would be a good idea to bring fishing nets, as crabs can be caught by the boat. A day at the harbor in Bagenkop is therefore ideal for a trip for the whole family.

A restored and well-preserved burial mound

Hulbjerg Jættestue

Hulbjerg Jættestue in Sydlangeland is a well-preserved burial mound from the Stone Age, where you can experience an impressive structure. During excavations, the remains of 53 people were found, including 17 children, as well as interesting finds such as Denmark's oldest tooth drill. The Jættestue has been restored and is open to visitors who want to explore the ancient monuments in the scenic area.

A unique outdoor gallery

TICKON – Tranekær International Center for Art and Nature, is a unique outdoor gallery in Tranekær Castle Park, where international artists create works directly in nature. These “Site-specific Art” works are made of natural materials such as wood, soil and stone and are designed to become part of the landscape while gradually degrading over time. The park, which covers 83 hectares, is open year-round and offers a fascinating experience where you can explore both art and nature in beautiful harmony.

Nature destination Skovsgaard

Nature destination Skovsgaard on Langeland offers wild nature experiences with wild grazing and the opportunity to explore the area, where cattle and wild horses live freely. The estate has 400 hectares of land, of which 245 hectares are dedicated to nature and wild grazing. Children can explore nature, participate in treasure hunts and learn about biodiversity. Skovsgaard is owned by the Danish Nature Foundation and has a history that spans over 700 years.

Museum experiences

Cold War Museum Langelandsfort

Langeland Fort was built all the way back in the 1950s. The fort was built with cannons, underground bunkers and anti-aircraft positions. During the Cold War, it was important to be able to keep an eye on the Warsaw Pact's air and naval activities, and this was done from Langeland Fort. Today it is a museum, with stories and tales from that time. At the museum, you can see a MIG-23 fighter plane, a minesweeper, a submarine and a complete section of the Berlin Wall. These experiences take place both underground and above ground, which makes it a very special experience for visitors. The Cold War Museum is not the only exciting museum on Langeland. You can also visit Fiskeriets Hus, which contains the history of fishing, or Langeland Museum, where you can see and read about ancient finds from Langeland and Strynø.
