The hiking route Øhavsstien is a full 36 km long – but can be divided if you don’t have the strength for the long hike. In the middle of Odense lies a small yellow house – Hans Christian Andersen’s childhood home. Today the house is a museum where you can experience the famous poet’s birthplace. During the summer of 2021, a new Hans Christian Andersen’s house will open, consisting of both architecturally beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces.

Experience the Little Belt Bridge from above

At Bridgewalking Lillebælt you can feel the adrenaline and enjoy the spectacular view from the top of the Lillebælt Bridge while moving around at a height of 60 meters. Castle visits and nature experience

Tranekær Castle

The castle dates back to the 13th century, but some believe it was actually built earlier than that. It is the house in Denmark that has been inhabited for the longest period of time and therefore has a very special history. The castle is currently inhabited by Countess Mette Ahlefeldt-Laurvig and Count Christian Ahlefeldt-Laurvig, who live here with their six children. The castle was restored in 1948-49 and it is possible to book a wonderful castle stay on site, while there is also the possibility of overnight stays in fine holiday homes not far from the castle. In addition to visiting and seeing the beautiful castle, you can walk a 2 km route through Tranekær Castle Park, which offers exciting international exhibitions and works. The purpose of these works is to unite with nature in a very special way.

Ristinge

If you want to get out into the raw nature, then the Ristinge peninsula is a good choice. Here you have the island's best beach and the cliff. The beach is 10 km long and it is therefore ideal to take a walk on the beach and enjoy the smell of the sea and at the same time maybe catch a glimpse of the many bird species in the area. The cliff extends over 2 km and in some places the cliff is up to 30 meters high. Here you can get a fantastic view of the Baltic Sea.

Close to the southeastern Funen village of Hesselager lies Denmark's largest stone - Damestenen. The 10-meter-high and 1,000-ton stone was brought here from Sweden by ice during the last ice age, and with its large size, it must be said to be an impressive sight.

Oehlenschläger's Beech

Oehlenschläger’s Beech in Stengade Forest on Langeland is said to be the place where the poet Adam Oehlenschläger was inspired to write Denmark’s national anthem, “Der er et yndigt land.” The tree stands close to the water in a clearing and is surrounded by beautiful nature, making it an ideal place for a break and reflection. A restored and well-preserved burial mound

Hulbjerg Jættestue

Hulbjerg Jættestue in Sydlangeland is a well-preserved burial mound from the Stone Age, where you can experience an impressive structure. During excavations, the remains of 53 people were found, including 17 children, as well as interesting finds such as Denmark's oldest tooth drill. The Jættestue has been restored and is open to visitors who want to explore the ancient monuments in the scenic area.

Come out into the countryside in the middle of Odense city. In the Funen Village, farmers' wives, peasants and priestesses live, all of whom help to create an authentic story of how people lived in the 19th century. At this open-air museum, you can discover the history of Funen, and the place offers something for all ages.

Langdyssen Kong Humbles Grav

If you are interested in history and especially the Stone Age, then you should go out and experience some of the island's many ancient remains. For example, some of the many dolmens and giant's dens. Langeland is actually the place in the world with the most dolmens per km2. They can be found everywhere on the island, and tell a story about the times that once were. Langdyssen Kong Humble's Grave is the most famous of them all, and here are 77 curbstones. The area with the curbstones measures 55 meters in length and 8 meters in width. The owner of the land, farmer P. Chr. Jørgensen, has agreed to make the area public so that visitors can come and see the beautiful ancient monument. In addition to Langdyssen Kong Humble's Grave, there is also Bjerrebygaard Langdysse, Langdysse at Helletofte and Langdysse in Karskov. There are also several giant's dens, such as Jætteestuekammer in Kinderballe, Jætteestueen Myrebjerg and Jætteestueen Andemosehøj. All of these places could be an exciting visit for the tourist interested in history.

Explore the Beak

The exciting nature area Næbbet stretches 300 meters out towards the South Funen Archipelago, and is one of the most interesting places for bird and plant enthusiasts on the whole of Ærø. In addition, the section between Skjoldnæs Lighthouse and Næbbet is a very polar place for anglers due to the water depth and the strong current. Go exploring on Næbbet and explore the area's diverse flora and fauna.
