Vilgurd Family Camp
Should you hold family holiday in North Jutland the coming summer, then you must consider Vilgurd Family Camp! We were there when this hybrid between beach hotel and family college was held for the first time
Below you can read about our experiences, but start with the video we made:
Food your kids love
Camp boss Uffe Truelsen, who is a chef himself, got the idea for Vilgurd because he was frustrated that he couldn't find a holiday with his wife and three children where the food was okay.
That is why the meals are an absolutely central part of Vilgurd. All meals are prepared by chefs who use local – and largely organic – ingredients.
In addition, food mod cards were handed out, where the children got stamps every time they tasted something new. And for every time your child tasted 25 things, there was a free ice cream. A brilliant way to get picky kids to taste new things.
A multitude of activities
At Vilgurd they have what they call activity pilots – young people with many different abilities to activate you and your children. We experienced, for example:
- Cake workshop
- Jewelery workshop
- Make your own pizza
- Yoga
- Climbing tower
- Bow combat
There was always something to do, so there was no need to travel anywhere to be activated. That's why we didn't come to Fårup at all as planned.
Not your typical family college
One of the things we really like about this new form of holiday is that, compared to most family colleges, you decide for yourself which activities you want to participate in - and then it's a huge plus that you get your own room with a bath and toilet.
Vilgurd himself writes about how they differ from the colleges. You can read more about this via the button:

And should you still be in doubt as to whether this new form of holiday is also something for you and your family, you can also read what Politiken wrote about their visit in 2022
