Tannisby Camping
Every year, Discover Denmark the country's best campsites, and in 2022 the title of "Denmark's Best Small Campsite" went to Tannisby Camping in Tversted.
We then stopped by with a diploma - and to find out how so many people chose to vote in this particular place.
Hospitality and coziness
You don't have to talk to owner Kasper Wæhrens for very long before you experience the local patriotism - Kasper grew up in Tversted and has a lot of ideas and wishes to develop the town.
Therefore, everyone, locals and tourists alike, is welcome at the small campsite, where there are regular events – concerts, communal meals, Friday bars and cinema nights...
It helps to create life for both regulars and guests, which helps to give Kasper the support that is good to have when people can vote for one in a poll to become Denmark's best small campsite.
Room for everyone
Tannisby Camping is also popular with children and four-legged friends. Kasper himself has a good helper in the dog Emosh, who is a hit with the guests' children.
...and even though the campsite is small, there is a large playground, so the kids will never be bored...
Tversted Gin
When we arrive at Tannisby Camping and enter the reception, we are a little amused that there is gin in the reception. Is it half a bar? Of course not, but that is simply because he gets special Tversted Gins made just for the campsite.

We are lucky enough to get some taste samples and especially the one with mango is a big hit. A little tonic on top and you have a wonderful summer G&T. At the same time, the price of NOK 199 per bottle (at the time of writing) a find for the price! It is highly recommended to stop by and buy a bottle or two if you are in Tversted.
Space for luxury
At Tannisby Camping, Kasper has made it easier to choose comfort and convenience if you don't want to bring your own caravan or tent.
In 2018, he was the first in Denmark to install mobile homes on the site. This means that you can enjoy the joys of camping life, but still enjoy modern conveniences such as kitchen, bath and toilet.
With mobile homes, you get 36 square meters, divided in two with your own kitchen, bathroom, living room and bedroom
