Egtvedpigen's Footprints

Fabulous hiking route in protected nature

ATTENTION! Egtvedpigen's footsteps are permanently closed.

“Egtvedpigens Fodspor has become such a great success that the pressure on both nature and residents in the area has become too violent. Now the route is temporarily closed to repair the damage to the track, and then solutions must be found that can ensure a sustainable walking route in the future. ”

Description

Egtvedpigens Fodspor is a 14 km long walking route that winds through Vejle Ådal with a wealth of beautiful views and hotspots along the way. The route is excellent because it has good variety, a good length, contains tranquility, pure nature, good cultural stories and beautiful views.

The route was planned to be inaugurated on the 100th anniversary of the discovery of the Egtved girl's grave, but this has been postponed due to Covid-19.

A wealth of parking spaces makes it possible to hop on the route in several different places, and there are also several smaller routes included if you want to shorten the route or just go for smaller walks. Egtvedpigens Fodspor route is well marked with orange pictograms along the way.

Below we guide you to the good experience with route, map, parking etc., but you can start with this little video appetizer:

Good behavior on the trip

  • On private areas you can hike from kl. 06:00 morning to sunset.
  • Dogs must always be led on a leash.
  • It is not allowed to feed horses, cattle and other grazing animals in fences.
  • It is not permitted to take up residence closer than 150 meters from residential and operating buildings. It is of course allowed to pass by.
  • Use waste racks or take waste home.
  • Take only photos and leave only footprints.

Parking

There are as many as 6 parking spaces on the route, as also shown on the official map above. It gives you ample opportunity for variety if you want to go the route more than once.

We can highly recommend the car park at Bindeballe Købmandsgård for a good experience that extends beyond the route and the beautiful nature. At Bindeballe Købmandsgård there is a small museum, café and coffee house with dining options, and then you can also rent a cabin and take an overnight stay.

Unfortunately no. The route is very hilly and runs mainly on footpaths. There is only asphalt in some places and in several places you have to go through enclosures with grazing animals.

  1. Too much audience pressure

The environment ruined due to too many tourists. Wildlife negatively affected and biodiversity under pressure. Find an alternative in the state forests.
