On the walls hang black-and-white pictures of cycling's stars fighting their way up mountain peaks and speeding down again on the other side of Alpe du d'Huez. It is hardly the bicycle hanging from the ceiling on which they have pulled off the victory, but they probably needed to open a few of the 12 taps at the Beer Carpenter afterwards to celebrate victories and defeats with one of the hand-brewed craft beers. Whether you've taken the bike or the bus to the bar doesn't matter, because you'll still be allowed to open 7 different taps and taste everything from lagers to pale ales and stouts.
