Sønderborg is a beautiful city, which we have called our attention to several times in recent years. Among other things, we have been over to award diplomas to the country's best ice house in 2020 as well as best burger in 2019.

Visit Dybbøl Mill and the 1864 Museum
At Historiecenter Dybbøl Banke, you enter directly into the dramatic days during the war in 1864. You yourself become part of the drama, and you gain new knowledge about one of the most important battles in Danish history. Also enjoy the view of Sønderborg, Dybbøl Mill and the many hiking routes in the area.

When you are in Sønderborg, you will not miss Denmark's Best Ice House 2020. The fresh, homemade ice cream must be experienced!
Go on Gendarmstien
Gendarmstien winds along the coast from Padborg in the west to Høruphav on Als in the east and is one of Denmark's most beautiful hiking routes. If you do not have the courage to walk the entire 74 km long hiking trail, you can also just walk one of Gendarmstien's four day stages: the Mountain stage, the Tegl stage, the Crow stage or the Strand stage.

Sønderborg Castle
With its magnificent location at the entrance to Sønderborg, Sønderborg Castle is a national Danish icon.

At Augustenborg a little outside Sønderborg you will find Lillehav. The game reserve offers beautiful nature, a beautiful little path and a rich bird life with many different kinds of ducks.
