Europe's Best Amusement Park 2021 + 2022

Try Denmark's Largest Roller Coaster

Fårup Sommerland is impossible to avoid when we talk about experiences in North Jutland. The amusement park has been voted Europe's Best Amusement Park 2021 and in 2022 has closed Fønix, Denmark's Largest Roller Coaster. It was so successful that the park regained the title of Europe's best, while Fønix won the title of Europe's Best Ride. Wild!

Find Thomas Dambo's trolls

If you haven't yet taken the kids on a hunt for Thomas Dambo's trolls, then you have something to look forward to! In Denmark we have 25 trolls, and in North Jutland you will find, for example, one in Thy, on Egholm near Aalborg and one in Mariager. A fabulous and very popular activity for children and adults.

A monastery from the Middle Ages

Børglum Monastery

Not far from Løkken you can find Børglum Kloster, which can be dated all the way back to the Middle Ages. The buildings are steeped in history, despite several restorations over time. You can visit the monastery and get an insight into its many years of history, see Børglum Kloster Church, or visit the museum where there are more than 15 exhibitions regarding art, history and culture. 

At Christmas, a popular Christmas market is also held at Børglum Kloster, which is worth a visit!

Historic landmark in Skørping

Regan Vest

60 meters underground in a chalk hill in Rold Skov you will find Denmark's deepest secret. Since the 1960s, the Regan West nuclear bunker has had the purpose of protecting the kingdom and the government in war-like situations, and has long been out of the public eye.
After a long hibernation, it was finally decided that the facility should be open to the public.

This means that eafter a long time of preparation to get the facility ready for the opening, Regan Vest is finally ready to open at the end of 2022.

National cycle route 5

East coast route

The East Coast Route is one of the national cycle routes that runs for a total of 666 km from Skagen to Sønderborg.

The first stages run along the east coast of North Jutland and are an excellent way to experience the east side of North Jutland.

Denmark's largest hiking dune

Råbjerg Mile

South of Skagen town is Råbjerg Mile, which is Denmark's largest hiking dune. The mile covers an area of as much as 2 square kilometers and it moves just as quietly through the landscape as it is said to migrate 15 meters to the north-east each year. Over time, plantings have been started in the area to slow down the mile, but it has since been protected. 

Råbjerg Mile is an exciting experience, as there are not many places in the country where you can experience an almost desert-like landscape!

Tornby Gamle Købmandsgaard

Near Tornby Strand is Tornby Gamle Købmandsgaard, which is a 200-year-old boat dealer's farm. Here you can experience furniture that dates back to 1860 and see exhibitions about coastal culture and nature and. Here is also a coffee shop and shop!

Tornby Gamle Købmandsgaard is open all year round and is completely free.

Only 300 m south of Tornby Gamle Købmandsgaard you can also see “Tornbydyssen” which is a 4000 year old stone dolmen. 

One of Denmark's largest forests

Take a walk in Rold Skov

Explore Denmark's largest forest, and experience the unspoilt nature in Troldeskoven and Urskoven. It is also possible to lace up your hiking boots and explore the heather-clad Rebild Hills with a fantastic view of Gravlev Ådal.
