Are you looking for cheap and free experiences in North Jutland?
We have made an all-time overview and the many places you can visit without it costing a farm.
Must visit
Rubjerg Knude Lighthouse is not just one of the places you absolutely must visit in North Jutland – it's also free!
Walk up to the iconic lighthouse, which became world famous in 2019 when it was moved further inland under great media attention so that it did not crash into the water. It just says a little about how important the lighthouse is to the area.
Self-guided city tour
Aalborg is the city in Denmark that has the most street art works measured in relation to the number of inhabitants. It is thanks to KIRK Gallery, which since 2014 has run the project "Out in the Open" - and it has just brought the art out to the people, so that you can experience art of the highest quality for free.
We have created a digitally guided tour that you can take with your mobile. The tour costs a little if you want stories about the works, but you can use the map to locate the works for free.
The mouse see
Stand on top of Denmark with one leg in the Kattegat and another in the Skagerrak, and experience the atmosphere when the waves crash against each other at Denmark's northernmost point.
Let yourself be transported around Sandormen, which is now a whole attraction in itself.
Free troll hunting
If you haven't yet been on the hunt for Thomas Dambo's trolls, then you have something to look forward to! In Denmark we have over 30 Dambo trolls, and in North Jutland you will find e.g. one in Thy, on Egholm near Aalborg and one in Mariager. A fabulous and very popular activity for children and adults.
Hirtshals
10. battery is Denmark's most complete and excavated defense installation from World War II.
Here you can experience 3.5 km of running trenches, which connect 69 bunkers, for free. An information exhibition has been set up in a personnel bunker that tells about the 10th battery and Hirtshals during the occupation, and in other bunkers the original furnishings have been recreated.
It is recommended to go on a guided tour and get a lot of stories, but this costs a little.
