Design Museum Denmark
Is an experience for you who are interested in handicrafts and Danish design.
You will pass 3 important Danish design figures, in the form of Poul Henningsen, Kaare Klint and Arne Jacobsen. These are three unique figures within Danish design who have shaped their own contemporaries' and not least posterity's attitude to Danish design.
The Safari chair, the PH lamps and Arne Jacobsen's chair, the egg, are some examples of design classics that have shaped the history of Danish design.
The style history of the world
Modern handicrafts and design are the focal point of the museum's content. It contains collections of both European and Asian handicrafts and art industry. Therefore, is on a unique journey through the history of style across the entire world.
In addition to the permanent exhibition, the museum also shows changing special exhibitions. In connection with the museum is the exhibition room Officinet, where selected Danish artisans exhibit their works.
After the tour in the museum
You can end your tour of the museum by visiting the shop or the café, which is decorated with Danish design and applied art. In the summer, there is dining in the beautiful green garden.
The museum was also once Denmark's first public hospital, where i.a. Søren Kierkegaard in 1855 was hospitalized and died.
