Aalborg Defense and Garrison Museum

Experience Denmark's only museum with the entire total defense together - from the police to the army.

Here, 10,000 m² of exciting exhibitions await you, both indoors and outdoors. You can step into the history of the occupation period 1940-45, explore among large vehicles, aircraft and weapons – and even visit a genuine German command bunker, which still remains from the war.

The Defence Museum provides a vivid insight into Denmark's defence history – from war and combat to everyday life and preparedness.

How is the experience?

When you enter the Defence Museum, you quickly notice that it is not a traditional museum. Here is the sound of heavy engines, the smell of oil from old vehicles and the feel of steel chains and uniforms, which tell stories of a Denmark in change.

The exhibitions take you close to both big and small moments: The everyday lives of children in wartime, the lives of soldiers on missions and the efforts of volunteers in emergency response. These are stories of courage, fear, unity – and the people who were at the heart of the events.

The visit is a sensory journey through time and themes., where you don't just see objects behind glass, but experience how defense and preparedness have shaped our society. It's an experience that gives both perspective and food for thought – regardless of whether you are young or old, local or a visitor to Aalborg.

In the store you will find ice cream, cold and hot drinks, souvenirs, construction kits, models, books and a large selection of used military items.

You are welcome to try out many of the items - but not those marked with signs or barriers.
